The Bear Parade!
I did these watercolors for a show opening at Gallery Nucleus this Saturday. It's the off-shoot of the micro shows done at Disney Animation and it features some pretty awesome artists. I'll be there along with my wife. Stop by and say hello.
You can get more details on Nucleus' website - http://www.gallerynucleus.com/gallery/exhibition/300

Here they are framed. Just to give you an idea of what they'll look like at the gallery. And I believe they'll be selling for the affordable price of $50 a piece.
I do tons of overlays and then I transfer my drawing to watercolor paper via saral transfer paper(do people still do that in this age of photoshop?).
Response to the cards has been super positive. This was my dining room table last Tuesday and in the first week we sent nearly 100 sets of Zoom Zoo alphabet cards. If this keeps up, we're going to do a second printing early next year and I'm planning some fun surprises for the 2nd edition.
They were also featured on -
Notcot - Zoom Zoo by Mike Yamada- 11.29.11
Ohdeedoh - "Zoom Zoo ABC Flash Cards From Mika Yamama" (they spelled my name wrong)

Those bears look awesome! :) Though I do admit, I like the sketch versions a bit more.
Thanks for posting your process, the saral transfer paper looks interesting. I'm even more primitive, I usually just do the ol' graphite transfer.
are you kidding?.... graphite paper all the way! I love digital, but there's definitely something about transferring and painting.
Thanks again for the card deck. I love it. It was nice meeting you at ctn!
Pretty sweet! Can't wait to see these guys in person!
wonderful trio! and i agree with you...the sketch phase has all the life...the immediacy. but please...your finals are knock-outs as well! "-)
Why don't you leave it at that stage if it looks better that way.. Cool bears btw.
