How to train your dragon - OOP


An old, incomplete painting from "How to Train your Dragon." In an earlier version of the story, the kids are taken to a training ground high up on the island and they spend the night in a rickety old cabin. I started this painting with a rough marker and pencil sketch to establish the design. I added rough color in photoshop using color balance and then painted and dropped a few textures on top.

    wow, I love the look of this! It's nice to see the marks that traditional media makes.

    There is some really nice texture going on in this! I would not have suspected markers were the medium because of it...I'm guessing you hang on to ones that are low on ink to get this effect? It's amazing what a great feel you can get for designs even in "unfinished" pieces like this.

    Wow ¡! Wich marides did you use?. i'm pretty happy with "TOuch" markers. Theyre are more cheaper than copic , and very similar! jeep up the great Job.

    Fantastic! I've seen the movie last year and I absolutely loved it. Now it's even more epic to know that you worked out some concepts for it, especially after I've browsed the book Scott Robertson published for you guys, The Skillful Huntsman, it had such great work and I learned a huge deal from it.

    This is stunning!!
    I love how you have worked into a traditional drawing, with digital media, but kept the qualities of a traditional drawing!!
    I hope that makes sense!! It works in my head!!
    I mean, its great to see digital media being used as another 'tool' in the artist's tool box alongside pencils and maker pens.
    I hope this makes sense?!!
    Basically, i think it looks ace!!
    Very pretty!! Great job!!
    I'd love to see what the picture looked like before it was worked into digitally!!

    I wish there was a How-To-Train-Your-Dragon amusement park. 1) to ride dragons, and 2) to visit cool sets like this!

    I love this concept art!!! It's really well done and love the mood you set in this painting. I want to get better at digital painting, myself so using different media seems to be a great idea for that.
